FIGHTING FOR AWARENESS AND EDUCATING THE PUBLICMany attempts have been made and much progress has been reached in educating the public, the professionals, and the agencies that handle BRAIN INJURY cases. However, there is still so much that needs to be done on behalf of our BRAIN INJURY survivors. The Recovery Awareness Foundation intends to become a part of the education process. We can accomplish this by organizing a peaceful movement into Washington D.C. to voice our concerns, our frustrations and let the world know that BRAIN INJURY is robbing the world of good, productive citizens. When a person sustains a BRAIN INJURY the injury takes over the future of the survivor and the caregiver. It forces people into situations they never dreamed they would find themselves in. It forces us to deal with agencies who know very little of the recovery process. It forces parents, spouses, and other caregivers to fight to keep their loved ones out of institutions where they can be placed and forgotten about. It forces us to fight for the right of the BRAIN INJURED survivor to recover! BRAIN INJURY does not signal the END of someones life; rather it signals a new beginning. It isnt easy to recover from BRAIN INJURY but neither is it IMPOSSIBLE. We want every chance to give the BRAIN INJURY survivor back to the productive community. We want to give our BRAIN INJURED survivor every opportunity to recover and the caregiver every opportunity to help them gain their reachable goal with dignity and pride. We should not have to beg for additional therapy, we should not have to plead for communication devices, we should not have to prove that recovery lasts longer then two or three years. We need to voice our concerns and help pave the path to better understanding and every chance of Recovery.
